Quality Education

With a view to impart quality education for the rural and tribal chidren in Usri area we are running an English medium school in which there are 115 students and most of them are from the ST, SC and OBC categories. We started this school in August 2005. We were also running tuition centre in 10-15 villages from July 2003. In the first year we had about 250 students. In the second year we had the same number of students while in July 2005 we had 300 students. But in July 2006 we had only 225 students in 9 centres. We did not have this programme from July 2007. The results of these tuition centres were not very encouraging. Only limited number of students from each village was attending and that too irregularly. So it did not make much of difference whether one is going for tuition or not. But the very few who were regular did improve their learning and passed with better marks.

We maintained better conduct with the government schools in the villages. We conducted arts and sports competitions for the students with a aim to improve the learning atmosphere. But though the teachers cooperated with these programmes it did not have any impact as such in the learning atmosphere in the schools. We also conducted teachers day programmes in the schools, one day workshops for the teachers, training for parent teacher associations but with out any tangible results.
